Mission prep trip

In preparation for Nick’s mission, he has to receive a list of vaccinations.  Most we have been able to receive here.  The yellow fever vaccination is only offered at specific clinics just like in the US.  The closest place in our state is a 9 hour drive. Dennis needed to travel for work to Bengaluru and the shot was offered there. It’s only a 7 hour drive, so we decided they could go there instead.

They were both able to receive the vaccine the next day. We decided Dennis might as well get it too while he could. They spent the next few days visiting businesses Dennis works with and then torturing us with their food photos.

Sunday they were able to get flights to Agra.  The airlines are still passing out masks, gowns and face shields. Most only wore the masks.

Monday, Nick and Dennis visited the Taj Mahal. Because of Covid, the place was empty.  Normally there are hundreds of people everywhere.  They were able to enjoy the quiet beauty of it.

They also went to the Red Fort. It was empty as well so a security guard gave them a private free tour.

They returned to Bengaluru for a few last visits on their way home.  Nick was able to get a tour of the city and Dennis business associates surprised him with a going away dinner.

We are so grateful that amidst the chaos of the world, that Nick and Dennis were able to spend time together before he leaves.  We are also grateful that the tourist attractions stayed open for him to tour.  Many things have been closed again in response to raised cases and fears of a third wave.  Nick won't come back to India after his mission.  His visa will expire on exit of the country.  Since he is an adult, we can't apply for future ones under Dennis.  He will need to apply for a tourist visa when he is through.  Thus he will return to the US upon completion of his mission.  It would have been a let down to live here and not be able to see one of  the greatest items here, one of the 7 wonders of the world.
