May ups and downs
Another week or two has gone by. It’s really hard to tell when everyday feels the same except Sunday. Emma has been wanted to cut her hair for awhile. Of course, she finally got brave enough after the salons were closed. She trusted me enough to do it for her. She looks super cute!
We were very worried that the kids would accidentally drink the water when we moved here. We were mostly worried because we have to use bottled water for brushing our teeth. Old habits die hard. I almost filled the water pitcher from the sink the other day. So far we haven’t had any problems. It’s signs like these that remind us that not everyone has potable water in the world.
Summer is passing and then we will get rain. We had a stormy weekend before the lockdown and it was funny to see people wearing plastic sacks on their heads. Didn’t their moms ever tell them not to put bags on their heads.
We are enjoying mango season. One of my favorite fruits. We have eaten them plain, made them into desserts and frozen some.
Some fun skies on our block recently.
I also had a scare on this blog. I logged in one day to see a large number of visitors, when I hadn’t recently posted anything. As I looked around more, I saw that they were all visits from Turkey. We have had visitors from places where we don’t know anyone but they are minimal. This was surprising. I didn’t think about it, until a few days later when I got three notifications from google that my posts were being removed for malware. I went into panic mode. Alex worked with me to save my posts and scan my site. I immediately sent complaint notices to google. Ultimately, the posts were restored but I am still leery of the bots from turkey who keep visiting the blog. Cross your fingers they don’t ruin it for us.
As district YW President, I was able to plan and hold a virtual 6 day youth conference. It was a great experience for the youth and myself. I loved hearing them share their experiences and testimonies. I’m grateful for the technology that allows events like this to happen even when we can’t meet together. I can’t wait until we can meet in person and I can see their faces.
We have spent our time recently perfecting the game of carom. It’s like billiards and shuffle board combined. You flick a striker to knock your colored chips into corner pockets. It’s a lot of fun.
